Release Notes 6.4

We present a few improvements that could be very convenient for everyday analysis. New features and enhancements for data analysis and dashboard visualization, as well as fixing a few issues, are ready for the end of 2024.

New Features and Improvements

  • Set Alternative Captions for hierarchy levels/attributes with OLAP/Tabular analysis
After you drop a hierarchy or an attribute on the category or series axis, quickly rename it to give a more meaningful name that will be used while working in this analysis, displayed in the report/chart view, and also when displayed on the dashboard chart. Click on the category/series axis level arrow and choose 'Alternative Caption'. Set a more appropriate caption which will be immediately applied in all views for this analysis. Anytime later, reset to the default name if needed.
  • Named sets as quick slicers
Use 'Named sets' (in OLAP cube or created in Kyubit application) as quick slicers in the analysis and dashboards.
  • Manage the display of 'Member properties' while in 'Expand All' analysis mode
Right-click on members in the grid analysis view to decide what member properties to display. From this release, this is also available when working in the 'Expand All' analysis mode.
  • Control legend titles for the Dashboard 'Combo chart'
A dashboard designer can control the text of the legend section of the 'Combo chart'. Previously, the text of the legend section was automatically created based on the two analyses/queries being compared on the combo chart or its measure names. However, when comparing two results sets there is often a requirement to set more appropriate legend names/text that will be more convenient for the occasion.
  • Toggle display of aggregates in the 'Expand All' analysis mode
Click on any level of the Expand All analysis and decide whether to display an aggregate row for the analytic level.
  • Ad-hoc edit measure name in the dashboard chart
If some measure name/description would be more appropriate for a given occasion on the dashboard, it is no longer required to create a new analysis with an alternative measure title. You can now quickly select the measure in the chart design mode and simply edit the measure name to any other text.
  • Dashboard chart - Set filters to skip
Previously it was possible to set which dashboard filters will be applied (accepted) when filtering data for a given chart. Now, it is possible to select which dashboard filters to be skipped while filtering chart data. This gives an opportunity for end-users to add new filters on the dashboard that will be accepted for chart filtering and at the same time to be sure certain dashboard filters will not be applied.
  • Great performance improvements when importing Excel file data to Analytic Models
Kyubit developed its own component for reading Excel files which greatly improved import time and now processing of Analytic Models based on Excel files is 20-50 times faster!

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Analytic Models drillthrough action with numeric values formatting applied
Formatting defined for numeric values (such as currency, etc.) will be applied when using drillthrough action on the Analytic Models.
  • Dashboard Font Size in Exported PDF Files
More appropriate font size in the exported PDF files. From version 6.3 a user can control the font size on the dashboard, but in some situations font size on the exported PDF was too small.
  • Import XML definition into a specific folder
While importing Kyubit objects from another Kyubit instance using exported XML files, now you can select a folder into which new objects will be created.
  • Y-min on the dashboard chart
Explicitly define the minimum Y Axis value. There were issues with negative values.
  • Email Template on the Subscriptions
There was an issue with reverting back the email template to default after selecting a specific email template for the scheduled subscription. Click on the search and the default template will always appear on the top to select.
  • Exporting Administration > 'Activity Log' in Excel File
The issue with exporting to an Excel file is resolved.
  • Continue Analysis from the Dashboard with a correct filter set
Explicitly defined filters and chart-defined filters are now correctly passed to the analysis view when using the 'Continue Analysis' action.
  • Dashboard SQL filter
The fix for some situations when added SQL filter could not be removed from the dashboard filters.
